Add Your Camera
The most exciting thing about Timejoy is the ability to add your camera from anywhere in the world. All you need is a camera and a broadband internet connection. If you cannot afford a camera we will mail you one for free.

Timejoy can support the following types of cameras at this time:
Digital Camcorders: for the best quality we recommend attaching your digital video camcorder to your PC or Apple computer using a firewire cable. Then attach your computer to the internet either via an Ethernet cable or wirelessly. We will supply the software you require to have your camera and your computer talk to Timejoy.
Webcams: you do not need a camcorder to shoot timelapse. There are some very high quality webcams out there. We like the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000, as it can handle shooting outside and has a nice wide-angle lens. You can use any webcam but keep in mind that some of the cheaper webcams are designed for faces, not landscapes. So you may find that the cheap webcams have trouble managing the bright sunlight outside. If you point your camera out the window and you can still see the clouds then your camera is a good one. You could connect your webcam via a USB connection to your PC or Apple computer. We will supply the software you require to have your camera and your computer talk to Timejoy.
IP Cameras: Timejoy can also support IP cameras. IP cameras are cameras that have their own IP address and have their own web server built-in. This means that they can be connected to Timejoy without needing to be connected to a computer. We can help you with the settings so that you just plug in your camera and it starts working right away. The wireless IP cameras are more flexible because you can put them anywhere in range of your wireless signal, such as on your balcony. So far we like the wireless IP camera the Linksys Wireless G PTZ model WVC200. Or try the D-Link DCS-950G, or DCS-920 wireless IP cameras, or the wired D-Link DCS-900. Any Linksys or D-Link IP camera should work fine.
Digital SLR Cameras: although these are not ready yet, in the future we will also host live images shot from your DSLR camera. Simply go to the “Upload Timelapse” link on the menu bar and upload your DSLR movies in flash format.
