Timejoy Help

FAQ

  1. How do I use Timejoy?

The best way to experience Timejoy from the Homepage www.timejoy.net is to first select music from the music player on the top right of the screen.

From there you can either view Live Timelapse clips that are being delivered to the website in real-time at the top right, or you can click on the Top Timelapse clips that appear below the video flash player.

As you watch timelapse clips on the player we encourage you to rate them. This rating will determine which clips appear on the Top Timelapse pages of the website.

To see new clips that have been recently uploaded by other users, click on Uploaded Timelapse in the menu bar.
If you are a timelapse photographer and have created a Timejoy account (see #2 below), then you can upload your own timelapse videos, or if you have a good view, add your own live timelapse camera.

  2. How do I register as a member of Timejoy?

From the homepage click on “Create an Account” and simply fill in the Username box. Note that punctuation is not allowed with the exception of periods, hyphens and underscores.

Then add a valid e-mail address that Timejoy can use to contact you.

Then click on the “Create new Account” button.

  3. How do I upload my own clips to Timejoy?

If you have timelapse clips of Vancouver (after the Vancouver Beta version we will be adding new cities shortly), and you have created your own account on Timejoy, then uploading your own clips is only a matter of clicking on the Upload Timelapse heading on the menu bar.

Next, fill in the Title that you want to appear with the video clip. Specify the Timelapse Date that you shot the video, then insert Tags, which are identifyers that describe what is happening in the clip (such as “downtown”, or “sunrise”, or “traffic” etc.).

Next attach your file. Currently the only formats that can be uploaded is Apple Quicktime .mov’s or flash .flv’s.

Lastly add a description of the file, such as where it was shot, or what camera settings you used to get the shot.
If you would like to add the specific address of the shot, if for example you wanted the shot to be added to a map, then open up the heading Location and insert it there.

  4. How do I add a live timelapse camera to Timejoy?

If you have a nice view of Vancouver (after the Vancouver Beta we will be opening this up to other cities around the world), then please contact us at addcamera@timejoy.net to let us know you would like to add a camera. We would select settings at Timejoy to prepare to receive your images.

Then we would point you to software you would install on your local computer to help facilitate the transfer of images.

Next you add your camera. Currently Timejoy is able to accept images from Apples and PC’s connected to webcams and camcorders. In the future we will also connect DSLR cameras to improve the visual quality of the live clips.

  5. I cannot see any of the video clips in the player?

If you have a nice view of Vancouver (after the Vancouver Beta we will be opening this up to other cities around the wTimejoy requires Flash in order to see the timelapse video clips. To obtain a free copy of Flash software visit http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=Sho...

  6. Why does the flash player keep stopping to reload while I am watching clips?

If your internet connection is slow, or if there are many people accessing clips at once the server may be getting jammed with traffic. As this is a beta version of the site, we will always work to ensure that the user experience is as fast and error-free as possible. Please be patient or try again at another time or from another location.

  7. Why does the music button take me to another website?

Timejoy does not yet offer a music player. For now we encourage you to click on the music we are suggesting. But also you can play your own music while watching Timejoy.
